The after school chess club will be organized by coach Andy from Princeton Chess Academy. We will explore the following areas:

– basic rules and etiquette

– attack and defence, mate, draw

– win with grace and lose with dignity

– chess and math: number counts, geometry, coordnates, and etc.

– thinking logic and reasoning methodology

– strategies and planning

Princeton Chess Academy is the first chess school in USA that fully adopts the Steps Method system to teach kids chess, incorporating the Russian chess school material and the Chinese training methodology. We are teaching kids chess around Princeton, NJ area, including Montgomery, Plainsboro, West Windsor, Lawrenceville, Hopewell, South Brunswick, Pennington, Robbinsville, Monroe and etc.

Coach Andy is an USCF Expert player, having been playing chess for more than 35 years. He has been coaching at after-school chess clubs, and teaching group and private lessons for beginners and advanced players. He was the State Champion of the Gold Section at 2014 NJ Open.

Since the inception of the academy, his students have swept most sections in tournaments around Princeton area. Some of his students have won state championship, national championship, entered the USCF national top 100 lists for their age groups, and/or played in World Youth Chess Championships.
